I have a life-long fascination with cars and driving. As a boy my grandfather took me to the junkyard where we walked up and down the rows of old Hudsons, Fords, Bel-Airs. My uncle had a C3 'Vette back then, a cream-colored T-top. I would walk around it over and over letting my hand glide up and over those curvaceous fenders. I couldn't get enough. As I grew up my interests broadened to include motorcycles, aircraft and sailboats too, but my main love has always been cars.
Wrench, write, repeat is a personal philosophy that describes my two greatest passions in life. For me there's no better feeling than the one I get when I build or repair something and it works as it should. I see writing as an extension of this. When I'm able to reach out to readers, and convey the exact feeling or idea I set out to express, I know I have done well. I'm a journalist member of the Texas Auto Writers Association and I own a small business. I maintain another site where I write automotive reviews of the press cars I drive and whatever else comes to mind. To visit that site click here: TheDirtonCars.com. Or check me out on Instagram. "A picture is worth a 1,000 words but a great laugh is priceless – or available at a nominal fee from one the great teachers of humor. Aaron Starnes is the best in the business for helping others see funny, be funny, and deliver the laughs."
-Toby Faber, Head Advisor College of information Science UNT "I've known Aaron Long enough to experience his Jeckyll as well as his Hyde, and I find them to be equally moving. His passion is apparent in every endeavor he embarks on and can only be appreciated with great attention to detail. He is decisive and confident and a good friend to have." -Josh McFarling, Gifted Writer, Colleague and Valued Friend "A boisterous bundle of passion, humor, and a strangely addicting personality; Aaron Starnes has taught me lessons of masculine chivalry and the benefits of cool Southern charm. He's a marrow-sucking mind-pluckin' hell-of-a guy with a much needed taste for antiquated machinery and reason in a world devoid of such poetic counterpoise." - Clay Shanks, Poet, Musician, and Valued Friend "An American hero far as I'm concerned." - Patrick George, Jalopnik Editor-In-Chief |
